CHURCH - The ECCLESIA - PAGE TWO
![[IMAGE]](golddiv.gif)
It has been correctly stated by my own pastor that "Christians should
not expect to receive from the Church that which they can only receive from the Lord Jesus Christ".
I would like to emphasize that the Church cannot save anyone, only faith in Jesus Christ alone can save anyone.
Although few Evangelicals would dispute this, there seems to be a mindset with some Christians that, if they can only bring unsaved loved ones to Church, these people will receive salvation.
Although the Holy Spirit will often use an anointed word preached from the pulpit, it is the job of each believer to lead the lost to Christ. Church is for those who have received Jesus as their Lord & Saviour so that they might grow in their relationship with Jesus through the teaching and preaching of the Word and corporate praise and worship.
Why would an unbeliever even want to attend a Spirit-filled Church? I pray that each of us believers will be the witnesses that Jesus intended us to be, reach out to the lost and pray with them to receive the Lord Jesus Christ.
Two church ordinances, not Sacraments
A "sacrament" is a Roman Catholic concept coming from the Latin words "sacra res" - sacred things. "It is an outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace"
McGuire, Reverend Michael. The New Baltimore Catechism and Mass, No. 2 Official Revised Edition.
New York: Benziger Bros., 1953 (Nihil Obstat, Imprimatur - Francis Cardinal Spellman. p. 304
THERE IS NO OUTWARD SIGN OR ANY OTHER HUMAN ACTION THAT CAN WARRANT OR EARN GRACE, GOD'S UNMERITED FAVOR.
Jesus Christ committed two ordinances to the Church:
From the Baptists: Believer's Baptism & the Lord's Supper
From the Pentecostals: Believer's Baptism and the Lord's Supper

WHAT IS NOT THE MAIN OBJECTIVE OF THE CHRISTIAN CHURCH - POLITICS
Christians are often encouraged to participate in politics since Jesus told us that we are to be the "salt and light to the world" (Matt 5:13-14)
However, salt and light have never run for political office. The Word of God is clear in stating that we are ambassadors for Jesus Christ
(2 COR 5:20) and that we are strangers and pilgrims in this world (1 PETER 2:11). Our citizenship is in the Kingdom of God.
Ambassadors, strangers and pilgrims in a foreign land never run for political office in that land. Ambassadors express the will, desire and policy of their King. That is the calling of Christians and the church (the Ecclesia- called out ones).
Abortion is not a political issue. Abortion is murder! It is not meant to be included in statements regarding Christians & politics. More on the subject of abortion can be found on page Against abortion, child abuse and pornography
