JESUS CHRIST IS LORD

FAITH STATEMENT

WE BELIEVE:

1. The Bible to be the inspired and only infallible and authoritative Word of God. The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.
2 Timothy 3:15-17, 1 Thessalonians 2:13, 2 Peter 1:21

2. In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal, future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations. The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare:

  • His virgin birth, Matthew 1:23, Luke 1:31, Luke 1:35
  • His sinless life, Hebrews 7:26, 1 Peter 2:22
  • His miracles, Acts 2:22, Acts 10:38
  • His bodily resurrection from the dead, Matthew 28:6 Luke 24:39 1 Corinthians 15:4
  • His exaltation to the right hand of God. Acts 1:9, Acts 1:11, Acts 2:33, Philippians 2:9-11, Hebrews 1:3

The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ.

  • The Salvation of Man

All men have sinned and fall short of the glory of God - Rom 3:23
"The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord" Romans 6:23
All of man's righteousness (good works) are as filthy rags in God's sight - ISA 64:6
Apart from Jesus Christ there is no salvation. Jesus said "I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No man comes to the Father but through Me." John 14:6
Man's only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. The resultant regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation.

    Conditions to Salvation

    3. Salvation is received through repentance and faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. By the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Ghost, being justified by grace through faith, man becomes an heir of God, according to the hope of eternal life.
    Luke 24:47 John 3:3 Romans 10:13-15, Ephesians 2:8, Titus 2:11, Titus 3:5-7

    The Evidence of Salvation

The inward evidence of salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit. Romans 8:16
The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and true holiness.Ephesians 4:24, Titus 2:12

    4. In the blessed hope, the rapture of the Church at Christ's coming. The resurrection of those who have fallen asleep in Christ and their translation together with those who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord is the imminent and blessed hope of the church.1 Thessalonians 4:16,17, Romans 8:23, Titus 2:13, 1 Corinthians 15:51,52

    5. in water baptism by immersion The ordinance of baptism by immersion is commanded by the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Saviour and Lord are to be baptized. Not for their salvation but for the outward testimony and declaration to the world that they have died with Christ and that they also have been raised with Him to walk in newness of life. Matthew 28:19, Mark 16:16, Acts 10:47,48, Romans 6:4

    6. in the baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. All believers should ardently expect and earnestly seek the promise of the Father, the baptism in the Holy Ghost and fire, according to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. This was the normal experience of all in the early Christian Church. With it comes the enduement of power for life and service, the bestowment of the gifts and their uses in the work of the ministry.and in the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. Luke 24:49 Acts 1:4 Acts 1:8 1 Corinthians 12:1-31

With the Baptism in the Holy Ghost

    comes such experiences as:

  • an overflowing fullness of the Spirit, John 7:37-39, Acts 4:8
  • a deepened reverence for God, Acts 2:43, Hebrews 12:28
  • an intensified consecration to God and dedication to His work, Acts 2:42
  • and a more active love for Christ, for His Word and for the lost.Mark 16:20

    7. We believe in one God eternally existing in three persons; namely, the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Matt 28:19-20, 1John 5:7 Most Trinitarians emphasize the Three, however the emphasis should be on the One Deuteronomy 6:4. When Philip asked Jesus to see the Father, Jesus responded “Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? John 14:9.

    8. in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. There will be a final judgment in which the wicked dead will be raised and judged according to their works. Whosoever is not found written in the Book of Life, together with the devil and his angels, the beast and the false prophet, will be consigned to the everlasting punishment in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death. Matthew 25:46, Mark 9:43-48, Revelations 19:20, Revelations 20:11-15, Revelations 21:8

  • Fundamentalist and Evangelical

I am a Fundamentalist as compared to an Evangelical. I believe in the Fundamentals of the Christian faith as defined in the four-volume set entitled The Fundamentals of 1917
These writings were directed against the increasing apostasy of modern theology which denied the infallibility of the Scriptures, the deity of Jesus, His virgin birth, His Resurrection and His Second Coming. It also opposed teachings against the need for the vicarious Blood Atonement of Jesus for the forgiveness of my sins.

When Evangelicals became a distinct force in post World War II in America, they were concerned primarily in spreading the Gospel and defended the fundamental truths of the Christian faith. In the last 20 years, Evangelical leadership became lax in defense of the faith in their seminaries. Consequently an increasing number of Evangelical divinity schools are now teaching precepts of modern theology to their seminarians.

Leading Evangelicals began signing agreements with Roman Catholic theologians claiming that the Roman Catholic Church preaches the Christian Gospel and agreeing not to proselytize (evangelize) Roman Catholics especially in Mexico and South America. These agreements are Evangelicals & Catholics Together (ECT), and the Gift of Salvation (GOS). These documents and analyses can be viewed at The Leaven of the Pharisees included in this site.

I do not foresee positive changes for the future of the Evangelical movement, but rather a continuum of complacency and compromise in defense of their seminaries from the influence of modern theology and their increasing tendency to join with the Roman Catholic Church in the ecumenical movement. This pattern of compromise on the part of many Evangelical leaders has forced me to move into the camp of those who do not compromise the faith nor do they view Roman Catholicism as a legitimate example of Biblical Christianity.

In closing, my concerns are partly expressed by the following articles:

  • Neo-Evangelicals - first warning
Dr. Charles Woodbridge, a professor at Fuller Theological Seminary in its early days, a founding member of the National Association of Evangelicals, and a friend of men such as Harold Ockenga and Carl Henry, rejected the New Evangelicalism and spent the rest of his life warning of its dangers. In his 1969 book, The New Evangelicalism, he traced the downward path of New Evangelical compromise:
"The New Evangelicalism is a theological and moral compromise of the deadliest sort. It is an insidious attack upon the Word of God. ... The New Evangelicalism advocates toleration of error. It is following the downward path of accommodation to error, cooperation with error, contamination by error, and ultimate capitulation to error!" (Woodbridge, The New Evangelicalism, pp. 9,15).

  • Dangers in modern Evangelicalism
"... evangelicalism in the 1990s is an amalgam of diverse and often theologically ill-defined groups, institutions, and traditions. ... The theological unity that once marked the movement has given way to a theological pluralism that was precisely what many of the founders of modern Evangelicalism had rejected in mainline Protestantism. ... Evangelicalism is not healthy in conviction or spiritual discipline. Our theological defenses have been let down, and the infusion of revisionist theologies has affected large segments of evangelicalism. Much damage has already been done, but a greater crisis yet threatens" (R. Albert Mohler, Jr., "Evangelical What's in a Name?," The Coming Evangelical Crisis, 1996, pp. 32,33,36).

  • The Evangelical Theological Society This is yet another example of Evangelical compromise with the inerrancy of God's Word. It is compromises such as this one that enabled the apostasy so prominent today in Liberal Protestantism

  • The Evangelical Theological Society seeks an "identity for evangelicals"
Since this Society represents Evangelical leadership, if you call yourself an "evangelical", you need to find your own identity in the truth of God's Word. These men cannot or will not do that for you.
