The Exchanges Made at the Cross
  • Jesus was made sin that we might have His righteousness. 1Pet 2:24

  • He was condemned for our transgressions that we might have His declaration of innocence. Rom 8:1-4

  • He bore our sickness that we might have his health. Isa 53:1-4, 1Pet2:24

  • He was made a curse that we might have His blessing. Gal 3:13-14

  • He took our poverty that we might have His wealth. 2Cor 8:9

  • He became rejection that we might have His acceptance. Matt 27:46, Rom 8:15-16, Eph 1:6

  • He became a slave that we might have His freedom. The price of a slave in Israel was 30 pieces of silver. Exodus 21:32, Matt 26:15

    Jesus had an abundance on earth, that is, He had more than He needed at any point in time. Our frame of mind on this subject must be that expressed in Phil 4: 11-12).

    Old Testament Example

  • Promise: Land Flowing with Milk and Honey

  • Principle: 10 Commandments- Obedience in faith

  • Problem: Desert

    First Response: Doubt -Num 13:31
    Result: failure, wandering, death
    Second Response: Faith - Joshua 6:1
    Result: Victory, fall of Jericho Joshua 6:24

  • Provision: Promised Land


    New Testament Example

  • Promise: Paul to preach in Macedonia Acts 16:9

  • Principle: Faith - Heb 11:6

  • Problem: Paul and Silas beaten and jailed in Philippi. Acts 16:23-24

    Response: Praise - Acts 16:25

    Result: Victory -Acts 16:26

  • Provision: Church of Philippi, a center of outreach in Macedonia, successfully established Phil 1:14
